The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) process is for adults who are looking to be confirmed in the Catholic faith. It is the Church's way of assisting individuals through their conversion to Catholic Christianity or to full initiation into the Catholic Church.
Possible candidates for RCIA are adults who (1) have never been baptized, (2) were baptized Catholic as infants but need to complete their Sacraments, and (3) were baptized in other Christian traditions.
RCIA candidates are those individuals who need to make the sacrament of Confirmation. RCIA catechumenates are those individuals who need to make all their sacraments (Baptism, First Eucharist, & Confirmation).
At St. Louis, RCIA classes and course materials are free. Classes run from mid-September through March and are held on Sundays, directly after the 11:00 Mass (from 12:00 to 1:00), in the Sacristy at St. Louis. All classes are held in person. A variety of topics are taught by different instructors each week to educate candidates about our Catholic faith. After successfully completing the classes, RCIA catechumenate will receive their sacraments during the Easter Vigil Mass. RCIA candidates will receive their sacrament on Pentecost.
Registration for the 2022-2023 year is due by Sunday, August 28th.
