Affectionately known as slugs, the members of the St. Louis Garden Society (S.L.G.S.) are a loose knit group of parishioners who view their “work” as fun. We enhance the beauty at St. Louis both inside and outside of the Church.
Christmas at St. Louis Church is our most joyful season, as trees are lit, wreaths hung, poinsettias placed and our crèche and warmth tree are assembled in readiness for Our Savior’s birth.
At Easter time, flowering spring plants of every variety are carefully placed upon the altars by our talented volunteers. Actively participating to help celebrate the miracle of our risen Lord is very rewarding, we find, especially Easter morning when the impact of our personal contributions are fully realized.
During summer and early fall, gardening in our churchyard is really what we are all about. Tending to nature not only brings us closer to God’s precious gift of life, but it also provides an excellent means for St. Louis to connect with the community. Imagine all those passers-by, who never step inside our church, who are spiritually uplifted by the tranquility and beauty of our surroundings! Even the mundane task of pulling weeds in the shadows of such gothic grandeur becomes a heightened experience!

Please consider becoming a part of our group. We are always in need of “waterers” during the summer months, extra help on “planting day” in June and leaf rakers in the fall. If you are interested in helping please watch for notices in the church bulletins or call the rectory at (716)852-6040.
