Catholic Charities announced on June 30th that the Appeal 2022 achieved the goal of $9.5 million with a total of $9,562,329. Thanks to the generosity and support of our community and the hard work of many dedicated volunteers and staff Catholic Charities surpassed its goal for the first time in several years allowing Catholic Charities to continue its good works throughout Western New York.
This was no easy task to accomplish as we continue to adjust to life with the remnants of a pandemic that affected all of us in many and various ways. To witness the generosity of the good people of the Diocese of Buffalo and Western New York in such a way, is a great cause for HOPE.
Nancy Neilsen, co-chair of the Appeal this year stated, “With continuing challenges like rising costs for everyone and the deep pain still impacting our neighbors in the city and affecting all of us, there are many reasons to consider this goal impossible. So I especially want to say how thankful I am to this community and to all of the parishes for persevering and ensuring this campaign’s success.”
As part of the Catholic Charities Appeal this year St. Louis Parish once again went over our goal. Last year St. Louis parishioners donated $129,901,99 which was $11,349.99 over our goal for 2021. This year our goal was $130,047. Through the generosity of our parish, St. Louis contributed $185,016.48 to the Appeal 2022 which was $54,969.48 over our goal. This shows that the people of St. Louis Parish take seriously the commandment: “Love Your Neighbor as Yourself.”
Because of your work, your prayers and your generosity Catholic Charities has been blessed with the ability to continue its mission to our most needy neighbors. People in need across the diocese will be assisted because of your faithfulness to serving those in need.
