On January 19th, Catholic Charities announced their goal for the 2022 Appeal. The goal for this year is 9.5 million with the theme once again of “Hope”. Through the annual Appeal, we can foster Hope and strength for those who need it most. Programs and services provided by Catholic Charities supported more than 125,000 individuals, children and families in 2021. These included basic emergency assistance such as food from food pantries, educational and vocational advancement, family stabilization services, immigration and refugee assistance, mental health and substance abuse treatment, and youth and family support services.
The aim of the appeal is to reach the goal by June 30th.
Earlier this week Catholic Charities reported that almost 79.21% of the goal has been achieved raising $7,524,753.27. We have been a very integral part of the success of the Catholic Charities Appeal in the past and we continue to be so this year.
There is still a need and Catholic Charities is just under two million dollars short of its goal. If you have not already had an opportunity to help Catholic Charities this year, there is still time to do so. All of us are to be congratulated for the outpouring of generosity that has been demonstrated in past years, this year, and over the years to assist our neighbors in need.
As we can see, one person cannot do it alone. It takes all of us working together with the means we have available to help our needy brothers and sisters throughout Western New York. Even the smallest donation goes a long way to alleviate some of the needs our brothers and sisters face.
Because of your work, your prayers and your generosity Catholic Charities has been blessed with the ability to continue its mission to our most needy neighbors. People in need across the Diocese will be assisted because of your faithfulness.
On behalf of all who serve Catholic Charities, thank you very much.
