Alleluia! Christ is risen!
Alleluia! Christ is risen! Our Easter Season has begun and we will continue to celebrate Easter until Pentecost Sunday. It was a real joy to celebrate Easter this year after having missed out last year.
It has been two years since the last proclamation of Alleluia! Last year we began Lent and it never finished. Now at last we can proclaim the good news of Christ’s resurrection and celebrate.
We are truly blessed this year to be able to gather and celebrate the hope and promise of the resurrection and experience some sense of new life after a long time in the tomb. We have come a long way. Like a butterfly breaking out of a cocoon, we are slowly emerging into our world again.
One could sense the joy that people felt this Holy Week and Easter to be able to gather for this most special time in our faith life. If nothing else, the pandemic has taught us that Easter is the feast of hope. After all it is hope that has gotten us through the past year: Hope for a vaccine, hope to return to normal, hope to be with loved ones again. And now we are able to celebrate the Resurrection.
This past year has been a long Good Friday but we have finally arrived. We can celebrate new life this year because we have been people of hope.
Alleluia! Christ is risen! And so have we.
