At the beginning of the Month dedicated to Our Lady, Pope Francis announced the worldwide Rosary to pray for an end to the Pandemic. In our country, the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. was chosen by the Holy See to lead the Rosary on Monday, May 17th at 12 noon. The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is among 30 shrines from around the world chosen to lead a day of prayer during the month long Rosary marathon.
The Rosary led by Cardinal Gregory will be broadcast worldwide. Cardinal Gregory will lead the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary for all world leaders and for all heads of international organizations.
Initiating the worldwide Rosary marathon from St. Peter’s Basilica on May 1st, Pope Francis said, “At the beginning of the month dedicated to Our Lady, we join in prayer with all the shrines around the world, the faithful, and all people of good will to entrust to our Holy Mother all of humanity so harshly tried by this pandemic.” The recitation of the Rosary will be livestreamed at www.nationalshrine.org/mass.
