This Wednesday begins the Season of Lent.
This Wednesday begins the Season of Lent. Masses for Ash Wednesday will be at 8:00 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. Masses will also be livestreamed. Due to COVID restrictions, ashes will be sprinkled on the top of the head to safely distribute ashes.
This is a season of repentance and renewal. For Kimberly Danna it is also a time to prepare for receiving the Easter Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Kim has been a part of the RCIA program this year in which she has been learning about our faith.
On the First Sunday of Lent, the Church celebrates the Rite of Election. Those who have been preparing to join the Church on Easter enter more deeply into their spiritual journey toward the Sacraments.
The Rite celebrates the choice of those who wish to be admitted to the Easter Sacraments. The Bishop himself, as the Head of the local Church presides at the Rite of Election. During the Rite, the Bishop declares the approval of the candidates after they are presented to him.
Next Sunday, February 21st at 3:00 p.m. at the Cathedral, Bishop Fisher will celebrate the Rite of Election for those who will receive the Sacraments of Initiation this Easter. We are happy to present to our Bishop Kimberly Danna who will be Baptized, Confirmed, and receive the Eucharist for the first time at St. Louis at the Easter Vigil. We show her our prayerful support in our Parish Celebration for Sending Catechumens for Election. Our parish celebration will take place next Sunday at the 11:00 Mass, the First Sunday of Lent.
Please pray for her as she continues her journey to our faith.
