Yes you can eat meat on St Patrick's Day! Read the message from the Bishop.
This Friday, March 17th, is St. Patrick’s Day and many people want to know if it is permitted to eat meat on this Feast Day during Lent when all Catholics are asked to abstain from eating meat on Fridays during Lent.
Recognizing the spiritual and cultural significance of St. Patrick’s Day, Bishop Fisher is granting a commutation of the discipline of abstaining from meat on March 17th, 2023.
A commutation of this discipline means that those Catholics who choose to eat meat on Friday, March 17th are obliged to choose another day before March 24th, 2023 to abstain from eating meat.
May the love and protection of St. Patrick be yours in abundance, as long as you live. St. Patrick, pray for us.
