Progress is coming along nicely with the construction projects at St. Louis.
Construction at St. Louis continues on the projects outlined earlier in the summer. Progress is coming along nicely. The handicap ramp entrance is now complete except for some leaking that was noticed this past week due to rain. We are in the process of addressing this issue and hopefully it will be taken care of soon.
On the Edward Street side of the church, most of the work is complete. The wall and stairs are in. The landscaping is complete. The fence is put back in place and the sidewalk to that entranceway has been replaced. We are still waiting for the iron work to be installed, that is the railing down to the door and the iron work on top of the wall. Until that time that entrance must be kept closed due to the danger that remains until the iron work is installed. A new door for that entrance is also on order and should be here shortly.
The church entrance at the sacristy is in worse shape than first thought. It will require removing some of the structural steel. Because of this the vestibule enclosure will need to be removed, the cement pad taken out and a new entranceway constructed. The cement pad will be replaced with one that is reinforced so that the steel pan holding it up will not be a problem in the future. The steel will be replaced by galvanized steel which is more resistant to corrosion. An open steel grate will be on the top of the stairs.
A lot of work has been done and a good portion needs to be done yet. Thanks to your donations to the Preservation Fund Drive and support of Upon This Rock we are able to do these costly projects.
