The theme of this year’s Respect Life Program is: “Every Life Is Worth Living.”
The month of October is a month dedicated to the awareness of life as we observe Respect Life Month. This annual tradition begins on October 4th this year with Respect Life Sunday. Coincidentally, this is also the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Pope Francis who has taken his name from St. Francis has been a consistent advocate for life.
The theme of this year’s Respect Life Program is one that has particular urgency today: “Every Life Is Worth Living.” Whether it lasts for a brief moment or for a hundred years, each life is a good and perfect gift. At every moment of life and in every circumstance of life we are held in existence by God’s love.
The U.S. bishops are asking Catholics to mark Respect Life Month through prayer, education and advocacy. This is a vital opportunity for Catholics to spark a renewal of love and commitment to the true good of others. Jesus is with us every step of the way, giving us the grace we need. God invites us to embrace the lives we have been given, for as long as they are given.
