Christ the King Seminary is a great asset for our diocese.
Our gift of faith has been handed down to us from previous generations since the beginning of the early Church and the first disciples. Over the years, this gift of faith has been nurtured by others and is now entrusted to us to be handed on to others. Faith is the foundation upon which we build a life of service to God and others. By sharing our faith stories, we give each other strength and help ensure the faith journey of generations to come. We are all connected to God through our common faith heritage.
This weekend the annual collection for Christ the King Seminary causes us to reflect on the importance of training others in the faith so that this gift may continue to grow and flourish among us. Christ the King Seminary is able to build a strong community of faith for our local Church by providing theological education, training in pastoral ministry and spiritual formation.
Over 10,000 people a year visit Christ the King Seminary for classes, retreats, workshops, convocation, and group meetings, all seeking to grow in their faith. In fact, this past weekend our Parish Council held their annual retreat at Christ the King. Our own parishioner, Ryan Keating, is preparing for the priesthood with the hope that someday he too will service the Diocese of Buffalo as a priest.
Christ the King Seminary has been a great asset for our diocese, training future priests, preparing deacons for ordination and training our lay leaders in the Church. Through their annual appeal Christ the King is able to continue their mission ensuring that all who answer God’s call to ministry will always have an opportunity to serve. Through the generous support of the people of God in Western New York, Christ the King Seminary is able to build and sustain a strong community of faith for our local Church.
