Thanks to your support of the Upon This Rock initiative we are able to complete this long awaited undertaking of installing a Wheelchair Lift and handicap accessible bathroom.
The project for the Wheelchair Lift is well underway as you probably have seen. The plan includes installing a handicap accessible bathroom in the church hall which has begun this past week. The minor asbestos abatement has been completed. The ramp leading to the church will be closed off while much of the work is being done.
This is going to cause some inconvenience for a couple of months while this project is completed. As far as possible, access to the church from the parking lot will still be available through the side door.
We will be installing a temporary handicap ramp in the front of the church to be used while construction is underway. The temporary handicap ramp will be to the right of the main doors as you face the church. It may be a long journey from the parking lot to the front of the church, so I would suggest parking in front of the church, even if it means driving up onto our sidewalk in front of the church. I know this is going to make it difficult for some people, so if you need assistance please ask us to help.
The project has been made possible through your generous donations to the Upon This Rock campaign that we conducted in 2016. We have received our fourth allotment of the proceeds from the Upon This Rock initiative to benefit our parish. July 31st we received $69,780.94. To date St. Louis has received from Upon This Rock $180,705.10. Over the course of the next few years we will receive two disbursements each year to be used for the lift and modifications to the church hall.
There is a picture of the design in the display case at the Main Street entrance to the church. Thanks to your support of the Upon This Rock initiative we are able to complete this long awaited undertaking.
