The Buffalo Diocese host a speaker from a missionary congregation.
Every year between June and July parishes in the Buffalo Diocese host a speaker from a missionary congregation. This is the Mission Cooperation Plan of the U.S. Catholic Church.
The many mission congregations, organizations and dioceses get a chance to personally appeal for prayer and financial support from the Catholics in the U.S. The funds are used by missionaries and indigenous lay church workers to improve the situations of the people with whom they work. With these efforts and programs, our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world are better equipped to help free themselves from poverty and oppression. The Mission Cooperation Plan gives us the opportunity to be educated about what is happening in the world today.
Next weekend Fr. Joseph Offeh will be visiting our parish. He is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Obuasi, Ghana. Currently he is the pastor of St. Luke Parish at Akrofuom. Fr. Offeh will be doing a Mission Appeal here for his home Diocese of Obuasi.
The Diocese of Obuasi was created in 1995 and is located in the rural area of Ashanti Region in Ghana. The diocese faces many challenges in its evangelization and social ministries.
Your financial support will assist the Diocese of Obuasi in a very special way in providing education for children in rural areas especially girls. Formation of seminarians, catechists, youth, and women leaders is also a priority as well as building schools and churches.
Practically your support will help provide good drinking water which will help to curtail disease like cholera, river blindness, worms and ulcers. Your support will also help to provide for health care facilities for the people of the diocese.
The second collection next weekend will be for the Diocese of Obuasi, Ghana. May the Lord richly bless you for any assistance you can offer for our brothers and sisters in the Diocese of Obuasi.
