CELEBRATING THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

                Last Sunday, June 9th, was the Feast of Pentecost. Traditionally, this is a day for celebrating the Gift of the Holy Spirit. On this day the Sacrament of Confirmation is also celebrated when the Gift of the Holy Spirit is called down upon candidates for the Sacrament.

                Several hundred young people were confirmed last Sunday in two ceremonies celebrated by Bishop Malone at the Cathedral. Among those who were confirmed were 6 members of St. Louis Church. The Gift of the Holy Spirit was conferred upon: Caroline “Cecilia” Finkbeiner; Hayley “Marie” Mahoney; Chloe “Catherine” Reeves; Elise “Madeline” Smith; Owen “Lawrence” Whistler; and Zachary “Leo” Whistler.

                We congratulate the members of our parish who have given witness to their faith by preparing themselves for the Sacrament of Confirmation through prayer, study and works of charity. We thank their parents and sponsors who have been their first teachers in the ways of faith by their example and witness to the faith.
