Now the fifty days of feasting has begun to celebrate the Easter Season and the New Life the resurrection of the Lord brings to us.
The forty days of Lenten fasting has ended and now the fifty days of feasting has begun celebrating the Easter Season and the New Life the resurrection of the Lord brings to us.
One of the central motifs of Easter Time is the new life of Baptism. Through Baptism, we come to share in the life of the Risen Christ. We all celebrated the new life of Baptism with the renewal of Baptismal Promises and the sprinkling with Holy Water on Easter Sunday.
The Easter Season is filled with celebrations of new life through the other Sacraments of Initiation as well. At the Easter Vigil we welcomed two new members of our Church through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. For months Kailene Jones and Lu Yang were preparing to become members of the Church. Now we welcome them as our Church’s newest members.
We will also celebrate the other Sacraments of Initiation during the Easter Season as children are baptized, First Communion is celebrated for our young people and Confirmation will be conferred on our young adults. This is truly a season to celebrate.
I am most grateful to all who participated in the Holy Week Services beginning with Palm Sunday and culminating on Easter Sunday. These are very busy days and they could not happen without all the help that so many people freely offer during these days. I would like to thank all of you who helped prepare and decorate the church for all the services as well as those who participated as Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Greeters, Lectors, Music Ministers directed by Frank Scinta and led by Jim Mrozek, Ushers, and all who came to pray and worship with us. This was a very real experience of the New Life the resurrection of the Lord promises to us.
