With all of us working together we can achieve our goal and help the Catholic Charities Appeal reach their goal.
This weekend begins the 2017 Catholic Charities Appeal week which continues through April 9th. By now all our parishioners should have been contacted by mail regarding a donation to Catholic Charities. This weekend and next weekend volunteers will be available at the Masses to accept your donation to Catholic Charities if you have not already contributed. If you have not received a request by way of the mail our volunteers will be able to assist with your donation at the Masses.
Through your generosity last year St. Louis parishioners donated $129,000 to the Catholic Charities Appeal. Wouldn’t it be great if we could once again reach this goal this year? St. Louis parishioners have donated $51,781.25 so far for the 2017 Appeal.
Mike Mikos has kept a watchful eye over the donations that continue to come in. If you have not yet contributed to the Catholic Charities Appeal you can do so by placing your donation in the collection basket, speaking with one our volunteers in church this weekend and next, mailing your donation to the rectory or directly to Catholic Charities or even on line at www.ccwny.org.
The goal for the 2017 Catholic Charities Appeal is $11 million. Catholic Charities as reported earlier in the week has raised $4,213,945.17 or 38.31% of the goal. They still need our help to make the goal this year. Our opportunity to support Catholic Charities is now. Catholic Charities and the people they serve are grateful for your gift of faith and love. Your donation helps educate, counsel and train parents, provide care to young children and provide social support to seniors, enabling them to remain safe and healthy in their own homes. Catholic Charities is also there to offer individual, family and marriage counseling and GED education and job assistance for youth. For more information and to read about and watch those who have benefited from Catholic Charites, visit their website www.ccwny.org.
This year the appeal is under the patronage of Saint Marianne Cope who is a native of upstate New York (Utica). The theme of this year’s Catholic Charities is “Finite Time—Infinite Good.” This year’s theme reminds us that we have only so much time to accomplish infinite good in the lives of other people who need our support.
Catholic Charities addresses the physical and spiritual needs of many Western New Yorkers. When you answer the call to support Catholic Charities you improve the lives of many in Western New York, one donation at a time.
With all of us working together we can achieve our goal and help the Catholic Charities Appeal reach their goal to provide for the many needs of Western New York. Once again we are asking everyone to do what they can to help those in need.
