Making our Church beautiful and secure.
As they say: ”They don’t make things like they used to.” This is the starting point of the St. Louis construction season.
Many have noticed that the glass vestibule over the entrance of the handicap ramp has been removed. Last year when we were working on the lift, we noticed that the concrete was crumbling at the top of the landing. We developed a rather sizable hole which was temporarily repaired. Upon further inspection the real damage was revealed. The cement pad which the vestibule enclosure sits upon is in need of serious repair.
You may recall that we replaced all of the stairs a few years ago due to deterioration and crumbling concrete. The design was such that steel pans were filled with concrete and with the passing of time, the steel has rusted, corroded and rotted through.
We will be replacing the first of two entrances this summer. This will be the first. The second is the entrance to the sacristy. The entrance at the top of the handicap ramp will be replaced with a solid concrete foundation. The sacristy platform will be replaced by open steel grating much like the stairs.
As a result the entrance at the top of handicap ramp will be closed and temporary ramp will be installed in front of the church as we had last year while this work is undertaken.
In the coming weeks more information will be forth coming. The work should be beginning soon. Please be patient. Everything will be done to make this project as smooth as possible.
