The Choir of St. Louis Church, Frank Scinta director, will join the Camerata di Sant’Antonio
Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Christopher Weber in Music from Aloft on Sunday, March 4th at 7:00 pm in St. Louis Church, Main and Edward Streets in downtown Buffalo. Joining them will be soloists from the Harmonia Chamber Singers. Admission is $18.00 and proceeds will benefit the orchestra’s performance fund.
Music from Aloft will feature the area premiere four new works by Maarten Sprujit, Robert Ingals, George Pelecis, and Allan Stephenson. Rounding out the program will be Remo Giazotto’s arrangement of Albinoni’s Adagio for Strings. The first half of the program will be performed from the choir loft of St. Louis, followed by a reception and additional works in the church’s historic sanctuary.
The Camerata di Sant’Antonio Chamber Orchestra remains one of Western New York’s preeminent professional chamber groups. Hailed for its extensive repertoire inventive programming, the Camerata perform throughout the year both alone and in collaboration with many of the region’s finest vocal and instrumental music organizations.
The Choir of St. Louis Church is an all-volunteer ensemble composed of members of the parish.
Its members rehearse each Thursday evening and lead the musical worship at 11:00 AM each Sunday.
Its repertoire covers nine centuries of sacred music and nearly every style of western composition.
In past years, members of the choir have performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra,
Ars Nova Musicians, Greater Buffalo Opera Company, Opera Sacra, Camerata di San Antonio and
the Dave Brubeck Quartet.
