St. Louis Church is a vibrant faith community, rooted in the sacramental life of the Catholic Church. Our location, in downtown Buffalo, makes us a unique parish, as we serve a diverse community, living in our immediate neighborhood, those from the surrounding Western New York area and many tourists who come to see our beautiful city. We are also unique in that our church has the distinction of being the first catholic parish in Western New York, founded in 1829. While we celebrate our rich history, we invite everyone to become a part of our growing family as we continue to serve God’s people. As our founder, Louis LeCouteulx intended; St. Louis is a Church for all Catholics and those interested in our faith.
While our Church is a renown architectural gem, the true beauty of St. Louis Church lies in the people who make up our community; parishioners whose families have worshipped here for nearly two centuries and our new young families who bring their children to be educated in our extensive formation program. Our parish staff, volunteers and lay leadership is deeply committed to ensuring our parish remains strong and viable.
We, the Parish of St. Louis, Mother Church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, are committed to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, through the celebration of the sacraments, education and service to our community.
